Gold Dust

Every microscopic grain is precious

The Perth Mint

The common belief is that most gold occurs as nuggets. However, gold is also found running in visible veins running through rock, and most often exists as microscopic fine grains, undetectable to the human eye until the gold-bearing ore has been processed.

At the Fimiston Open Pit Mine, known as the 'Super Pit' in Kalgoorlie, only 2-3 grams of gold are extracted for every tonne of ore that is mined!
