THE PLACE BEHIND THE STORIES

A little more about us.

About
The iconic Perth Mint, one of Perth's premier tourist attractions, was established following the discovery of gold in Western Australia in the 1890s. We opened for business on 20 June 1899, the third Australian branch of Britain's Royal Mint.

The state heritage listed Perth Mint site includes our striking main administration building and our industrial factory where we continue to make all our coin products today. Our 125 year history gives us the distinction of being Australia's oldest operating mint.

Our self-guided Discover The Perth Mint experience lets you explore our heritage building and exhibition at your own pace.

Discover the stories of Western Australia's Gold Rush, come face to face with our Guiness World Record breaking one tonne gold coin and witness a live gold pour in our original Melting House. Also on display are a glittering array of gold nuggets and specimens and treasures from our historic coin collection.

During your visit take time to explore the stunning selection of coins, jewellery and gifts in our shop, or use our bullion services to trade precious metals.
