Madonna is called upon during the Blessing of the Fleet festival for maternal protection and care for all who sail the seas.
Statuette representing the town of Capo d'Orlando (northeast coast of Sicily). During the procession the Madonna di Capo 'Orlando is carried by young women.
Madonna representing the town of Moletta (southeast coast of Italy). During the procession, the statue of Madonna dei Martiri is carried by men.
