Cape Leveque Lantern

This lantern was installed in the Cape Leveque lighthouse in north Western Australia.
It was manufactured by Chance Brothers in England. The clockwork operating the rotating lantern is original, but it is now driven by an electric motor.
The light source was originally a three burner incandescent kerosene vapor lamp of 25,000 candelas.
The flashing sequence was three white flashes in quick succession every 15 seconds. This unique "signature" identified it to shipping.
The lantern is on permanent loan from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
It has been kindly reassembled by Australian Maritime Systems.
